What do UM-Flint and the University of Fort Hare, South Africa, have in common? They’re educational partners whose aim is to encourage global citizenship and social justice awareness for their students and educators. “We understood that to develop global leaders in education and social work, we had to increase international educational experiences that would help our students and faculty develop in ways not possible when limited to studying in one’s own country,” says Dean and Associate Dean Sapna Thwaite of UM-Flint’s School of Education and Human Services. At TBA, we feel our donation dollars are put to good use when we can support communities helping each other thrive with open discussion and learning. More communication, more problem-solving, and more community … yes, please.
