BRENDA GOERGEPENSION ADMINISTRATOR
RETIRED IN 2022
AFTER 20 YEARS WITH TBA

“Finally, I was given the opportunity to work remotely in a position that both challenged me and allowed me to utilize and grow my experience.”

As a Pension Administrator, I prioritize a caseload to verify that testing and filing are completed on time, I read and interpret plan documents and adoption agreements, and accurately produce all required testing to ensure that plans comply with IRS and other regulations. I also prepare Form 5500 and attachments, prepare Audit Report for large plans, review and approve requests for loans and distributions, and communicate with clients.

My work has taken me a lot of places. First, I worked in banking for three years in Houston, Texas, then worked in brokerage in Chicago for well over two years. I spent a year on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade and more than a year in the office of a brokerage clearing firm. After returning to Michigan I worked in various positions, including biller for a large law firm in Lansing and a full-charge bookkeeper. My experience in the TPA industry includes working for nearly four years as a secretary for a TPA in Okemos, then more than six years for a TPA in East Lansing as a Trust Accountant and Plan Administrator, before joining TBA.

With TBA, I was able to stay put. Finally, I was given the opportunity to work remotely in a position that both challenged me and allowed me to utilize and grow my experience. I had a newborn baby and a three-year-old child when I started with TBA, and Kim offered flexibility – something that as a single mother was invaluable. Through 17 years, I’ve been able to maintain a full-time position working remotely, while still “being there” for my daughters.
