CARLOS SILVAPENSION ADMINISTRATOR
JOINED TBA IN 2025
“I look forward to working with my clients regarding their pension plans, and enjoy calculating contributions. I feel like I have a true impact on the client when I take the time to understand their needs, and work with them to reach their financial goals.”

I was attracted to The Benefit Advantage (TBA) by the care that employees give to the client, and to the staff spirit in the workplace. Everyone is very knowledgeable about 401(k) regulations and is very supportive of each other. Client communication is a key point that was stressed during the interview process.

After graduating from Florida State University in 2022, I was at a crossroads. While exploring different careers, I studied to be a math teacher but soon realized that teaching was not the best fit for me. After searching for something different, I found a job listing to be a “401(k) Specialist.” I had never heard of this and knew nothing about 401(k)s, but I wanted to try something different and, as a math guy, I enjoyed numbers. After being offered a position, my training included everything about 401(k)s and other retirement plans. I was trained to learn – and pass – the QKA exams. After working there for more than two years, I realized that I needed a change. I enjoyed my work, but it was a large company, and I wanted more customer contact. Thankfully, I was offered the opportunity at TBA.

In my role as a Pension Administrator, I make sure retirement plans are in compliance with current regulations. I verify the data provided by the clients, calculate annual contributions, run required testing for retirement plans and prepare the Form 5500 to file with the IRS.

I feel like part of something bigger than myself, knowing that I have an impact on both the clients and my coworkers. I’m happy to have found TBA and to be a part of their team and their goal of making sure everyone on the staff has a chance to shine.
