CHERYL PAULIDIRECTOR OF COMPLIANCE
JOINED TBA IN 2004

“I like being able to help people both inside and outside of the office have a better understanding of compliance issues.”

I manage the administration team for TBA. Our team is responsible for compliance testing, contribution calculations and Form 5500 preparation. I also review the compliance work before we send the results to the client. I work with our 3(16) department to ensure that we’re fulfilling our fiduciary responsibilities, as well as work on coordination and review of new adopting employers for our multiple employer plans. In addition, I consult with clients on complex compliance issues and, if required, assist them in submissions to the IRS and represent those selected for IRS audits. Lastly, I keep up on changing laws that impact retirement plans by reading daily publications and attending seminars.

I have been working in the Pension industry since I graduated from college. I worked as a Pension Administrator and was responsible for all aspects of compliance testing, consulting and Form 5500 preparation for my book of clients. I was attracted to TBA by the company culture and the fact that many of the employees had worked for TBA for years. I felt that I would be able to have my voice heard and have an impact on the future of the company, knowing that my work would be of value to management and my peers. I like being able to help people both inside and outside of the office have a better understanding of compliance issues.

I have had the good fortune of having many happy memories from my time at TBA. The one that stands out the most was when I represented one of our large plans during an IRS audit. The client was very nervous about the audit, but I was able to work directly with the IRS so the client never even had to speak with the auditor. When it was over the client thanked me for helping her sleep at night knowing that we were there to makes sure their plan was in compliance.
